2027: OTTI’S RE-ELECTION ASSURED — EKEOHA CHAIRMAN
The Chairman of Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Aba, Comrade Emeka Okeke, popularly known as Mecon Global, has described the Grand Civic Reception organized by the people of Ukwa La Ngwa in honour of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), as timely and well-deserved, stressing that the massive show of support is a clear endorsement of the governor’s outstanding performance and a strong indication that his re-election in 2027 is assured.
The colourful reception, which held at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Friday, January 30, 2026 attracted thousands of Abians from across the state, cutting across political, social and economic divides.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the event, Comrade Okeke said the massive turnout and overwhelming show of support by the Ukwa La Ngwa people represented a powerful demonstration of love, solidarity and appreciation for Governor Otti’s transformational leadership in Abia State, particularly in Aba and Umuahia.
According to him, the people have “spoken with one voice” in support of Governor Otti’s re-election in 2027, noting that his second term is already assured based on his visible and verifiable achievements across the state.
He described Governor Alex Chioma Otti as a God-sent leader and the best performing governor Abia State has ever produced, adding that the governor has completely changed the political and developmental narrative of the state after 24 years of maladministration.
The Ekeoha chairman, who mobilized traders from the popular textile market to participate in the grand civic reception, praised the governor for restoring public confidence in governance and placing Abia State on the path of sustainable development.
Comrade Okeke highlighted the administration’s monumental achievements in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, commerce and industry, workers’ welfare, as well as the prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, describing them as clear evidence of purposeful and people-centred leadership.
“Abia has not had it this good. The reconstruction of the long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road, Aba, which previous administrations failed to fix for decades, is a testament to Governor Otti’s commitment to development. Today, Aba is witnessing massive road reconstruction across the city, with similar projects ongoing in Umuahia and other parts of the state,” he said.
He further noted that the governor has restored Aba, the legendary Enyimba City, to its former glory, stressing that the scale of infrastructural turnaround under the present administration is unprecedented in the history of the state.
Comrade Okeke also commended the improved security architecture, urban renewal initiatives and the growing confidence of local and foreign investors in Abia State, describing the state as an emerging investment destination.
On the 2027 general elections, the popular, amiable, and indefatigable market leader expressed strong optimism that Governor Otti would secure a landslide victory, urging traders and other eligible voters across the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Governor Otti’s re-election is a mission already accomplished, but citizens must do their part. I appeal to traders, market men and women, youths and all Abians of voting age to get their PVCs and come out en masse to vote in 2027,” he added.
He assured that traders of Ekeoha Shopping Centre and the wider Aba business community remain solidly behind Governor Alex Otti, pledging their unwavering support for his administration and his vision for a new Abia.
