100 Days in Office: Traditional Ruler Lauds Alex Otti on Reconstruction of Emelogu Road in Aba

A prominent traditional ruler in Abia State, HRH Eze Sir Young. Nwangwa, the Eze Oko 1 of Ehere autonomous community in Obingwa local government area has lauded the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for reconstructing Emelogu Road in his domain in his first 100 Days in Office.

The elated traditional ruler well known for his forthrightness, eloquence, kindness and godliness praised Dr. Alex Otti for his visionary leadership, prudent management of the state’s meagre resources, courage and uncommon zeal in tackling the numerous problems facing the state head-on.

HRH Eze Sir Young Nwangwa disclosed this in a chat with newsmen during the commissioning of Emelogu Road, Aba, which passes through his palace down to the popular Dr. Orji Kalu Bridge leading to Good Morning Market where it connects to Ngwa Road Market, Aba.

He described the road, which he said was formerly known as Uzoiyi before it was later renamed after his uncle, Emelogu as strategic and wondered why past administrations in the state never did a solid work on the road.

He expressed immense gratitude to Dr. Alex Otti’s administration for remembering his community this time, which he described as a sure sign of many good things to come to his community in the years ahead.

He described Ehere as the treasure base of Obingwa local government area adding that the road would be so useful to the rural dwellers in Obingwa local government area who are predominantly farmers who come to sell their farm produce in Aba as well as people from Cross River and Akwa Ibom States respectively who come to buy goods in Aba.

HRH Eze Sir Young Nwangwa commended Dr. Alex Otti for the timely completion of the road adding that they would ensure that the road is protected.

He urged the people and residents of the area not to dump refuse in the drainage or litter the road with refuse adding that anyone caught doing that would be dealt with.

Regarding his assessment of Dr. Alex Otti’s 100 Days in Office, the notable and revered traditional ruler averred that even though 100 Days in Office is not enough period to assess the performance of a president or governor, yet he revealed that a lot has been achieved in the state under Dr. Alex Otti’s administration.

He noted that previous administrations in Abia State grossly looted and devastated the state for the past 24 years and heaved a huge sigh of relief that Dr. Alex Otti has proved within a very short time in office that he has truly come to rescue Abia State from total destruction and perpetual darkness.

He commended Dr. Alex Otti for his sweeping reforms in the civil service, which led to the fishing out of over 2,300 ghost workers, prompt payment of workers salaries, increment of the stipend paid to traditional rulers in the state to five percent, launching of a security initiative code-named Operation Crush to flush out criminals and make the state safe for all including other milestone achievements in the health, education, infrastructure, trade and agricultural sectors.

He likened the quality leadership and massive developmental strides of Dr. Alex Otti to that of the late Chief Sam Onunaka Mbakwe, former Governor of Old Imo State whose enviable legacies still remain unparalleled in the history of Southeast geo-political zone of the nation.

He gave Dr. Alex Otti resounding kudos for starting well and urged him to sustain the tempo of his developmental strides in the state and betterment of the people.

HRH Eze Sir Young Nwangwa on behalf of the good people of Ehere autonomous community pledged their total support to Dr. Alex Otti’s administration and prayed that God would continue to be with him in all ramifications as he pilots the affairs of Abia State to greater height in the days ahead.

Speaking during the commissioning of the 1.8km Emelogu Road reconstructed by his administration, Dr. Alex Otti who came very late in the evening because of other engagements that day disclosed that he is in a hurry to restore Aba to its former glory adding that the road is fitted with solar-powered streetlights and functional standard drainage system.

He assured that the roundabout would be fitted with a water fountain to beautify it.

Dr. Alex Otti thanked the residents of the area and the entire people of Aba for their cooperation leading to the timely completion of the road.

The palace of HRH Eze Sir Young Nwangwa was agog throughout that day as he rolled out the drums to give Dr. Alex Otti a rousing welcome.

He celebrated his exemplary leadership and giant strides in his first 100 Days in Office with unprecedented pomp.

He feted a galaxy of dignitaries, his fellow traditional rulers including HRM Eze Nwabiaraije Enogwe, HRH Eze Elder Ogbonna Josiah Nwaenyoghi, HRH Eze Ngozi Matthias Nwoke, the men, women, youths and elders of Ehere autonomous community, friends and well-wishers including different cultural dance groups who came to rejoice with him and his community.
