Umuodu Separates from Umunevo at Last

History was made in Isiala Ngwa South local government area of Abia State on Thursday, January 25, 2024 as the people of Umuodu celebrated their separation from Umunevo in Isiala Nvosi autonomous community with pomp and ceremony.

The epoch-making event held at Umuodu Village Hall attracted the presence of notable sons and daughters of Umuodu, friends, in-laws and well-wishers including the traditional ruler of Isiala Nvosi autonomous community and Chairman, Isiala Ngwa South Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze J. C. Ngobi (JP).

In his opening remarks, the prime mover of the separation of Umuodu from Umunevo and Traditional Prime Minister of Isiala Nvosi autonomous community, High Chief Walton Arungwa expressed profound gratitude to God for making their dream come true.

The dynamic and visionary founder of the legendary Apostles Rock Group of Nmere Gini Bu Ogu fame appreciated all those present as well as the people for gracing the historic occasion in their numbers.

He described the event as unprecedented in the annals of Isiala Nvosi autonomous community adding that they have gone their separate way for good.

He said that the decision to stay on their own, which began since 1989 was to avoid rancour with their brothers as well as for administrative convenience and assured the people that it would accelerate development in Umuodu.

Speaking, His Honour Chief Bright Chinedu Amalaha (member, Customary Court, Obikabia) described the historic event as prayer answered.

The elated prophet and Aku Oma 1 of Isiala Nvosi appreciated the people for their perseverance and peaceful conduct over the years as well as the pivotal role played by the Traditional Prime Minister of Isiala Nvosi, High Chief Walton Arungwa, Dr. Jerome Onukufor and others in actualizing their dream.

He emphasized that the people of Umuodu are qualified to be on their own since a long time ago and expressed satisfaction that Umunevo has grown to the level of having another village without loss of life or property.

He disclosed that Umunevo has a standard village hall, eminent personalities and everything it takes to pilot their affairs very well.

He assured them of his continued support and bid them farewell and God’s abundant blessings.

In his landmark address, the Chairman, Isiala Ngwa South Council of Traditional Rulers and Avosi 11 of Isiala Nvosi, HRM Eze J. C. Ngobi (JP) thanked God for making their dream come true without bloodshed or destruction of property.

He commended the people of Umuodu for their resilience, patience and peaceful conduct over the years and urged them to continue to remain peaceful and put God first in everything they do to attract His numerous blessings to the village.

He disclosed that Umuodu is the 33rd village in Isiala Nvosi adding that it has all it takes to grow to greater height.

He urged them to remain united and committed to the good of Umuodu, Isiala Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South, Abia State and the nation.

At the end, he prayed God to bless them with good health, long life and prosperity.

The ceremony was a huge success and climaxed with great merriment.
