Abia NUJ Veteran Stakeholders Forum Assures Chidi Asonye of
Total Support

The Abia NUJ Veteran Stakeholders Forum has assured the acting Chairman of the Abịa State Council of the Union, Comrade Chidi Asonye of their total support in piloting the affairs of the Union to enviable height.

They disclosed this at his official introduction to the group during its monthly meeting held in Umuahia.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Ambrose Nwachukwu described Comrade Chidi Asonye as a seasoned journalist and expressed optimism that he would bring his vast experience to bear in piloting the affairs of the Union to greater height as well as in a better position to grapple with the challenges of his new office.

On his part, Comrade Ogbonnaya Iheaka charged him to make the welfare of the members his top priority to enhance their performance as well as to be guided by the constitution of the Union in whatever he does.

Contributing, Comrade John Emejor reminded him of the need to shore up finances to be able to meet the growing demands of his office, as he cannot run the council without adequate funding.

In his remarks, one-time Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Ralph Egbu urged him to lead the Union to El Dorado by carrying everybody along and handling every situation that arises with maturity and tactfulness to avoid needless distractions.

In his response, Comrade Chidi Asonye appreciated members of the prestigious Forum for their warm reception and promised not to disappoint their expectations.

He assured them of his preparedness to take the Union to greater height and solicited their cooperation to enable him to succeed stressing that they had been at the helm of affairs of the Union in the state at different times respectively.

Comrade Chidi Asonye of Zik Fm 96.3, Umuahia is the 7th Chairman of Abia State NUJ since the creation of the state in 1991.

He took over from Comrade Victor Ndukwe who resigned his position to contest for the National Treasurer of the Union in the Triennial Delegates Conference of the NUJ coming up in Owerri next week.
