Hon. Dame Blessing Okwuchi Nwagba, PhD, an indomitable political Amazon and APC Senatorial candidate for Abia South in the 2023 election is at it again and doing what she knows how best to do – politicking.

This time she is busy drumming tenacious support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to the two-time state legislator that represented Aba North State Constituency and gubernatorial candidate in the state in the 2019 election, the best way to reciprocate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s great love for Ndigbo and his magnanimous gestures to them is by returning him to Aso Rock in 2027.

To this end, the indomitable politician convened and hosted a meeting of the All Progressives Congress Stakeholders in Aba North LGA single-handedly at her Aba residence on Friday, May 9, 2025 to deliver the message of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu to all the APC stakeholders and executives across the 17 local government areas of Abia State in preparation for the 2027 election.

In her opening remarks, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba, PhD expressed great satisfaction with the large turnout and thanked all for attending the meeting within a short notice despite their busy schedules.

Addressing the stakeholders, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba said that the meeting was convened at the behest of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives to sensitize the stakeholders and party Chieftains in Aba North LGA so as to wake-up from their slumber and woo more people into the party ahead of the 2027 election stressing that politics is a game of numbers.

She told them that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu mandated the 17 Local Government Chapter Chairmen of APC in the state to convene a stakeholders meeting and create more awareness about the party in all the nooks and crannies of Abia State and work together with other members of the party to ensure the landslide victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027.

Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most courageous leader she has ever seen in the nation.

She applauded him for the remarkable things he has done in the nation, especially the removal of fuel subsidy, which she acknowledged that it is biting everybody including herself.

On the other, she said that the nation now has enough money because of the removal of fuel subsidy and advised that the money should be managed well.

She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not keeping the money at the centre but pumping it into the states to enhance the lot of the people.

She said that the governors now receive up to three or four times more than what they used to get before and should be held responsible for most of things that are not done in their various states because they should now have enough money to manage the states well.

She also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the South East Development Commission (SEDC) adding that it is now that the people of Southeast (Ndigbo) have truly been recognized and given a sense of belonging in the nation unlike General Yakubu Gowon’s so-called post civil war 3Rs (Reconciliation, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation) aimed at reintegrating Ndigbo into the nation, which never achieved anything but rather ended up alienating and further marginalizing them in the affairs of the nation.

She said that today, the Igbo people are very happy and appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for restoring their pride as a people in the nation as well as for giving them most of the things and positions, which eluded them in the past.

She described the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a welcome development aimed at addressing the gross infrastructural decay, health and education deficits in the Southeast geo-political zone over the years

She appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives for appointing their illustrious son, Chief Emeka Wogu as the chairman of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba said that the best way to reciprocate all the good things President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the Southeast is to vote massively for him come 2027.

She described Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as an exceptional leader who is doing his best to unite the party.

She tasked the party members not to be shy in canvassing for APC even though some people would tell them that APC has killed them or that the cost of living is so high as well as the price of fuel.

She said that the problems were not caused by APC adding that things have been so bad before now.

However, she expressed confidence that at the end of the day the situation would improve tremendously.

On his part, Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike commended Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba for convening and hosting the meeting.

He described the meeting as a wake-up call and bold initiative of Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives aimed at re-electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027.

The popular, eloquent and indefatigable one-time Aba North and Aba South Federal law maker expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the emergence of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the only APC candidate in the House of Representatives from Abia State as the Deputy Speaker, the establishment of South East Development Commission (SEDC), the appointment of an Aba man, Chief Emeka Wogu as its chairman and another Abia man, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka as the Executive Director (Finance and Administration) of the commission despite that Abia State gave him only 4% vote in the 2023 election.

He said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made them proud and it would be unreasonable if they fail to vote for him massively in the 2027 general election.

Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike noted said that they owed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a huge debt of gratitude and the only way to pay it is by voting him back to power in 2027.

He charged the stakeholders, ward chairmen and local government executive to go back and map out strategies on how to bring more people into the party.

He harped on the need for unity of purpose and warned them to shun greed and jealousy in order to actualize their objective.

He promised to give any ward that has the highest number of members the sum of N100, 000.00 while the wards that take second and third positions would receive N50, 000.00 and N30, 000.00 respectively to ginger them to do more.

In their separate speeches, Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna, Nze Tony Onyeforo (APC chairman, Aba North) and Hon. Mrs. Chino C. Ogbonna (Abia State APC Woman Leader) thanked Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba for convening and hosting the meeting.

They harped on the need for transparency in all their activities and called on the stakeholders and party executives to take their responsibilities very serious and organize meetings from time to time as well as embark on massive membership drive to strengthen the party in Aba North LGA.

Speaking, the state chairman of APC, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu represented by Sir Justice Onwumelu, the Abia South Zonal chairman assured the stakeholders that there is only one united APC in the state.

He solicited overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election and urged them to join hands together and do everything possible to ensure his re-election in 2027.

In a vote of thanks, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba appreciated all for finding time to attend the meeting within a short notice, especially Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike who flew into the state that evening because of the meeting as well as the state chairman who despite the short notice sent Sir Justice Onwumelu, the Abia South Zonal Chairman of the party to represent him.

She predicted a very great future for APC in Aba North and the entire Abia State stressing that APC would win the next election in 2027 at all levels in the state.

She expressed profound gratitude to Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu who has been spending his money and doing so many things to ensure that APC waxes stronger in Abia State and the entire Southeast.

At the end, she told every ward to submit their report before May 19, 2025 and ensure that they mobilize their ward members for an enlarged general meeting of the party on May 19, 2025.

The meeting was a huge success and climaxed with great merriment. All those present ate and drank to their satisfaction.

Some of those present were Hon. Mrs. Chino C. Ogbonna (Abia State APC Woman Leader), Nze Tony Onyeforo (APC chairman, Aba North), Hon. Chinyere Chijioke, Hon. Chintua Nwagba, Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna, Dr. Justice Ujoh, Hon. Stanley Ugochukwu Azuka, Lady Amaka Izuogu (Abia South Zonal Secretary), Comrade Uche Moses among others.

In a chat with Jideofor Ugwanyi, Signal Publisher, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba, PhD bared her mind on the meeting saying that APC is the party to beat. Excerpts.

Hon, can you tell us briefly why you convened the meeting?
Today, May 9, 2025, I hosted a crucial meeting of the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aba North local government area of Abia State in furtherance of the directive given to us by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu after a meeting with him and asking us to go back to our various local government areas and sensitize our members and the general public concerning the activities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also bring in new people into the APC to strengthen the party and boost the chances of re-electing our great President who has been doing very well come 2027. If our votes are not reasonable or enough and he wins, when it is time for sharing the dividends of democracy, it would be difficult for us to walk confidently to the table and say give us our own share for Abia State or Aba North. So, we are sensitizing our people to ensure that we cast enough votes, contribute enough towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that we would be able to demand what is due to us as a people as well as to get what we call dividends of democracy. So I am glad with the turnout of the meeting. Many of our leaders were present and the message actually sank in and they were excited and convinced that APC is the party to beat.

How were you able to mobilize and host the large turnout in these difficult times?
(Laughter). I know that the grace of God is ever sufficient for me. I am always enthusiastic about hosting people and meeting party members. Hosting people generally is my flair. I love people. I love socializing and sharing with people the little that I have. So I was happy that I managed to serve everybody that attended the meeting. They ate, drank and went home happy.

And you hosted the meeting single-handedly.
Of course, I did it single-handedly. That is my contribution to all that we are doing. It is my own contribution to APC. As a stakeholder you have to stake something. I appreciate Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu who is doing a lot and using his money to promote our great party in Abia State and the entire Southeast. So, those of us who are leaders in our various localities are also contributing our own bits to mobilize the party members because there are younger ones and people who look on to us for leadership and support in every wise. So, we have to also stake whatever we can to ensure that they are happy to move on and support APC.

Has the game has started again.
Oh, yes, the game has started. APC is the party to beat. I will call everybody to join APC. It is only a leader like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that can take the very hard decisions that he has taken like the removal of fuel subsidy, which of course, we know the impact. But at the end of the day that has also enabled the governors to have a lot of money to now develop the states. So, we should look at the governors and ask them what they are doing with all the money that they are given. They should be able to help President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the states are developed infrastructurally, educationally and otherwise to make the people happy. We are sure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to lead us to the Promised Land.
