Hon Iheyinna Mgbeahuru Commends Labour Party Leadership
…Backs Outcome of NEC Meeting in Umuahia
In response to the recent Labour Party National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on September 4, 2024 in Umuahia, Abia State, Hon. Iheyinna O. B. Mgbeahuru (The Bridge), former Executive Chairman of Osisioma Ngwa local government area of Abia State and the Labour Party State House of Assembly Candidate for Osisioma Ngwa North State Constituency in the 2023 general election has expressed his strong support for the outcomes of the meeting.
The meeting, hosted by His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, (OFR) of Abia State, culminated in the establishment of a 29-member Caretaker Committee following the expiration of the National Working Committee’s tenure on June 10, 2024.
Senator Nenadi Usman was appointed as Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee while Senator Darlington Nwokocha emerged as the Secretary.
In a chat with newsmen, Hon Iheyinna O. B. Mgbeahuru congratulated the newly appointed leaders and commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti for his quality leadership of Abia State and the Labour Party.
He expressed optimism that he would continue to steer the Labour Party in the right direction, ensuring that they remain united and focused on their goals.
He also endorsed his full support for the appointment of Senator Darlington Nwokocha as Secretary of the Caretaker Committee and expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to execute its mandate effectively.
The Caretaker Committee includes representatives from critical sectors of the party, such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as well as members from the Senate, House of Representatives, State Houses of Assembly, and gubernatorial candidates in m the last election.
The committee is charged with organizing the Labour Party’s Ward, Local Government, State, and National Congresses and conventions in strict compliance to the party’s constitution.
This move is seen as essential to maintaining the party’s organizational strength and preparing for future political challenges.
Hon. Iheyinna O. B. Mgbeahuru called on all party members to rally round the Caretaker Committee to ensure its success.
