HRM Eze O. J. Ananaba Urges Nigerians to Embrace Agriculture, Equity in 2026 New Year Message
The Traditional Ruler of Okahia Kingdom in Abia State, HRM Eze O. J. Ananaba has called on Nigerians, particularly, the people of Abia State, to embrace agriculture as a practical solution to the nation’s worsening food crisis and economic hardship.
In his 2026 New Year message released from his palace, the revered royal father, who recently celebrated 25 years on the throne and 71st Birthday, said the prevailing harsh economic realities demand resilience, productivity, and self-reliance, especially at the household level.
Describing agriculture as Nigeria’s untapped strength, Eze Ananaba urged families to return to farming and other productive ventures as a means of survival and growth, stressing that sustainable prosperity can only be achieved through local production.
“To overcome the high cost of living and the food crisis, we must go back to the land. Our soil is our wealth, and self-reliance is our surest path to prosperity.”
The alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and former Chairman of Obingwa Council of Traditional Rulers lauded Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for what he described as purposeful and people-centred leadership of Abia State, noting that the Governor is guided by integrity, compassion, and selfless service.
He highlighted the administration’s massive infrastructural renewal, particularly the construction and reconstruction of major roads across the state—as well as its respect for traditional institutions, describing these efforts as signs of A New Abia State.
Eze Ananaba pledged the full support of the Okahia people and traditional rulers across the state toward realizing the vision of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s “New Abia” anchored on development and good governance.
Speaking on national unity, the royal father, a prominent member of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, renewed his call for justice, fairness, and inclusivity within Nigeria’s political structure.
He emphasized the need for the Igbo Nation to be accorded its rightful place in the federation, noting that lasting unity can only be achieved when all regions are treated equitably.
Reflecting on his reign, Eze Ananaba expressed gratitude to the people of Okahia for their support and sustaining peace over the past 25 years, describing unity as the community’s greatest strength.
He urged them to continue fostering harmony and mutual understanding as the foundation for progress, and rounded off by praying to God for bountiful harvests, good health, and breakthroughs for the people of Abia State and Nigerians at large in 2026.
