
Nnentu Ngwa Elects New Executive
…His Honour Chief Gabriel Nwaobilor emerges as chairman
The people of Nnentu Ngwa in Okporoenyi Ohazu Autonomous Community, Aba South local government area of Abia State have elected new officers to pilot the affairs of Nnentu Ngwa Town Council for the next three years.
The election held at Nnentu Ngwa Town Hall on Monday, May 5, 2025 was conducted by the electoral committee headed by an illustrious son of the community and former TC Chairman of Aba South local government area, Hon. Chukwudi Dike.

It started with the presentation of the three chairmanship candidates namely Chima Azu James (O/C, Aba Town Hall), His Honour, Chief Gabriel Nwaobilor and former executive Deputy Chairman of Aba South LGA, Hon. Elder Smart O. Ebere to the people.
Thereafter, they introduced themselves and presented their manifesto one after the other.
Other positions including vice chairman, secretary, assistant secretary, financial secretary, treasurer, PRO, Provost 1 and Provost 11 were zoned among the various villages and the consensus candidates were called out and asked to take a bow.
Thereafter, the election of the chairmanship position commenced with the issuance of ballot papers to the 24-man delegate to vote for a candidate of their choice.
At the end, the ballot papers were collated, counted and results announced by the electoral committee chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Dike.

His Honour Chief Gabriel Nwaobilor emerged the winner with 12 votes, Chima Azu James came second with 6 votes, Hon. Elder Smart O. Ebere took the third position with 5 votes while one vote was void.
After the announcement of the results the newly-elected executive of Nnentu Ngwa Town Council were inaugurated immediately by Elder Chief David Onyembi.

Speaking, the electoral committee chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Dike thanked the people for their peaceful conduct throughout the exercise and charged the newly-elected members to be dedicated to their duties and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship in order to sustain peace, unity and progress in the community.

In his acceptance speech, the newly-elected chairman of Nnentu Ngwa Town Council, His Honour, Chief Gabriel Nwaobilor described the election as peaceful, transparent, credible, free and fair.
He thanked God for his victory and appreciated the people of Nnentu Ngwa for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that the new executive under his watch would usher in a new dawn in the community.
He commended the electoral committee for a job well done as well as the delegates for choosing him to pilot the affairs of Nnentu Ngwa Town Council.
He described leadership as selfless service and solicited the support of everybody including the elders and village heads in order to live up to expectations.
On his part, the newly-elected vice chairman, Ikeabunkem Chigbu (a.k.a Omena Star) assured the people that they would not disappoint the confidence reposed in them.
He said that he would utilize his vast experience as vice chairman of Umuebeke for 4 years and acting chairman of Umuebeke for 4 years to make the people proud in his new position as the vice chairman of Nnentu community.
Some of the elected officers include Otutubuike Iheonunekwu (PRO), Odinaka Onuoha, Nkoro Sunday (Assistant secretary), Nonso Gabriel Anyatonwu (secretary).
The event climaxed with merriment and attracted the presence of Paul Emeruwa, Hon. Maduabuchi Ahukanna, Sir Temple Ugorji, Ezinwa Ugoala, Chikezie Ufomba, Oscar Ogbonna among others.
