The enthronement of Rt. Revd. Samuel Daniel as the new Bishop of The First African Church Mission, Ngwa Central Diocese evokes resounding euphoria across the nation

Friday, August 2, 2024 was a memorable day in the life of Rt. Revd. Samuel Ositadinma Nwachigoziri Daniel and the entire faithful of The First African Church Mission, Ngwa Central Diocese following his enthronement as the 7th Bishop of the Diocese.

The solemn and impressive event held at St. Silas Cathedral, Ngwa Central Diocese, Obikabia Nnanji in Isiala Ngwa North local government area of Abia State.

The enthronement service was officiated by the Primate of The First African Church Mission, His Eminence, The Most Revd Dr. Sunday Oludare Matilukuro (JP).

It commenced with a colourful procession of the Cross Bearer, the Choir, Deacons, Priests, Canons, Arch Deacons, the Bishops, the Archbishops, the Primate’s Chaplain, the Primate, Warden, the Registrar, the Chancellor and others.

After the Service of the Entrance, Processional Hymn, Invocatory Prayer, Confession of Faith, Praise and Worship led by the Band, the Special Bible Reading taken from Isaiah 65:16 to the end was read by the Diocesan Secretary, His Honour Richard Ohuonu. It was followed by Freewill Offering and Diocesan Development Collection.

Thereafter, the Diocesan Secretary, His Honour Richard Ohuonu read the Mandate after which the Enthronement Service started with Hymn 558 titled, “He Leadeth Me”.

While the song was being sung, the Bishop’s procession moved to the West Door, which was shut and at the ending of the hymn, the congregation faced the West Door.

When the West Door was opened the new Bishop entered the Church and was welcomed by the Primate, the Clergy and the Laity.

Thereafter, the Primate took him round the church where he completed all due ceremonials before conducting him to the Throne where he finally enthroned him in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

After that he presented the new Bishop to the Church and asked them to welcome him with loyalty and truth. The Church did just so with joy and resounding applause.

Thereafter, the Primate handed over the keys of the Cathedral to him, which was finally given to the People’s Warden 11/Access Warden, Hon. Eze Solomon.

At the end of all the fanfare associated with the Enthronement, the Primate, His Eminence, The Most Revd Dr. Samuel Oludare Matilukoro (JP) mounted the Pulpit and preached on the Topic, “Crossing the Jordan” with uncommon effervescence.

He described Jordan as a point of no return, a barrier, wall or limitation. He said that when the Israelites got to River Jordan they knew that it would not be possible for them to go back to where they came from.

He stated that Jordan was the last barrier between them and their possession of the Promised Land.

He emphasized that Jordan is the final barrier to the greatness of every man or woman stressing that unless you cross your Jordan there would be no greatness in your life.

He noted that when God wants to lift you up, He takes you to the wilderness of life. He cited the examples of Moses who was removed from the Palace and Joseph who was sold into slavery in order to accomplish God’s purpose in their lives.

He assured the people that God would move them from their state of hopelessness to the manifestation of their expectations in the name of Jesus Christ.

He told them that today is their day and no matter how bad their cases might have been that the God of possibilities would reverse their cases.

He reminded the new Bishop that when he is crossing the Jordan that he would encounter distractions and disappointments.

He told him that his Enthronement as the 7th Bishop of Central Ngwa Diocese is like Crossing the Jordan for him because it is very close to his village.

According to the Primate, the new Bishop is moving from where he is to a greater level. He urged him to be well-prepared, to put on his thinking cap and to be up and doing in order to Cross the Jordan.

He told the parishioners to give him their best if they truly want their Diocese to grow very fast and work with him adding that they would be surprised what the Lord would do in their midst within one year.

He rounded off by saying that unless you prepare for greatness, when you get there, you would not be able to sustain it.

In his response, Rt. Revd. Samuel Ositadinma Nwachigoziri Daniel expressed profound gratitude to God for His grace upon his life and the opportunity to serve in Ngwa Central Diocese.

He reiterated his unwavering determination to do the work of God and promised to shepherd God’s flock under his care with love as well as to deliver the mandate God has given them adding that he would not disappoint God and the expectations of the people.

He called on all the parishioners of Ngwa Central Diocese to join hands with him to take the Diocese to greater height.

He lauded the existing developments in the Diocese and promised to do more by the grace of God, especially in the area of soul-winning for Christ, establishment of schools and hospitals.

According to him, he is in love with church planting and development and
promised to establish more churches in Ngwa Central Diocese.

He expressed optimism that the Cathedral would be completed and dedicated by the grace of God under him.

He disclosed that they have started a Nursery and Primary School in the Diocese to complement their Secondary School and promised to extend it to other locations in the Diocese where they have landed property.

He also unfolded his plan to build a hospital in the Diocese to take care of both their members and the public who are sick.

He appreciated all those present who graced his enthronement for their love and support and prayed God to bless them and lead them safely back to their various destinations.

There was anthem by the Choir followed by presentation of gifts to the new Bishop, general thanksgiving/tithe, benediction, recessional hymn, taking of photographs and reception.

In a chat with newsmen, Hon. Ambassador Godfrey Chimezie Iwuoha thanked God for the successful enthronement of Rt. Revd. Samuel Daniel as the 7th Bishop of Ngwa Central Diocese and wished him more grace to continue to lead the people of God aright.

He lauded his untiring efforts in the Church and management of their school, which he said have yielded huge dividends within a very short time.

He urged him to carry everybody along and to win more souls for Christ and bring in more people to the Church. He also called on the parishioners to give him maximum cooperation.

 

In his remarks, the Diocesan Secretary, His Honour Richard Ohuonu expressed happiness on the enthronement of their new Bishop and assured him of their unalloyed loyalty and total support.

On his part, the People’s Warden 11/Access Warden, Hon. Eze Solomon expressed profound gratitude to God for the Enthronement of their new Bishop, Rt. Rev. Samuel Daniel and also assured him of their one hundred percent support.

Bishop Samuel Ositadinma Nwachigoziri Daniel hails from Umuehihie Egbelu Etiti Eziama Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa North local government area of Abia State.

For him, his Enthronement as the 7th Bishop of The First African Church Mission, Ngwa Central Diocese on October 1, 2022 is like a home-coming.

He is happily married to Sister (Evangelist) Best Ugochi Samuel and their marriage is blessed with lovely children.

The First African Church Mission is the first indigenous Church established by Africans and run by Africans.

It started in Nigeria in 1891 at Broad Street, Lagos and has branches in Republic of Benin, Chad and other African countries with over one thousand parishes.
