Celebrating Dr. Alex Otti’s Giant Strides at A Town Hall Meeting in Aba
Dr. Alex Otti’s One Year in Office occasions resounding applause within and outside Abia State
Many people across the world contend that the performance of a governor or president in terms of success or failure cannot be judged in one year.
But for Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), the visionary and indefatigable governor of Abia State, one year is long enough to assess his administration.
His emergence as the fifth democratically-elected governor of Abia State has restored hope to Abia State, especially Aba and Umuahia.
Today, Aba looks very promising again after long years of utter dilapidation following Dr. Alex Otti’s monumental achievements in the city within a very short time in office.
Prior to his assumption of office, the roads in Aba were in a state of disrepair and the fortunes of the ever bustling commercial city and legendary ‘Japan of Africa’ dipped irretrievably because of gross neglect by successive administrations in the state.
But today, he has reconstructed and commissioned over seventeen roads in Aba including the on-going reconstruction of the long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road by Julius Berger.
As a show of their love, gratitude, happiness and solidarity for all he has done for them, the people of Abia South Senatorial District comprising six local government areas namely Aba North, Aba South, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East and Ukwa West rolled out the drums to give Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) a rousing welcome at the Women’s Square, Aba South Council headquarters at a Town Hall meeting organized as part of the activities marking his impactful one year in office.
The epoch-making event held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 and attracted a galaxy of distinguished personalities from far and near.
The Mayor of Aba South local government area, Hon. Chief Uche Wogu and his colleagues spared no effort or resources to put everything in place.
The venue was well decorated right from the gate and the newly renovated Aba Town Hall burnt during the ‘Endsars’ protest added glamour to the scenario.
The arrival of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) set the whole place agog. He was received with thunderous ovation amid deafening canon shots and the people gyrated round the whole place jubilating and hailing him for his good governance and massive road projects in Aba.
They described him as a selfless leader who has come to serve the people with the fear of God and wished him long life, good health, wisdom and God’s protection.
In their separate speeches, the member representing Obingwa, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Munachim Alozie, the member representing Aba South State Constituency and the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa and the member representing Aba Central State Constituency, Hon. Akachukwu Stephen Ucheonye eulogized Dr. Alex Otti’s unparalleled achievements in the state, especially Aba and Umuahia within his one year in office stressing that he has surpassed their expectations.
They said that Dr. Alex Otti has really proved that he has all it takes to lead Abia State to the Promised Land and shown by words and deeds that he is not just after being the governor of Abia State but rather absolutely committed to enhancing the wellbeing of the people through good governance and massive infrastructural development in all parts of the state.
They appreciated Dr. Alex Otti for organizing the Town Hall meeting as well as for constantly engaging the people of Abia State through various platforms like his monthly media chats, which he participates in actively.
Thereafter, they passed a vote of confidence on him. The motion was moved by Hon. Munachim Alozie and seconded by Hon. Akachukwu Stephen Ucheonye while the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa ratified and upheld it.
In his address, the elated performing Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti appreciated the people for their love, gratitude and overwhelming solidarity.
He reassured them of the determination of his administration in making Aba the undisputed epi-centre of trade and commerce in Nigeria adding that they are pursuing the cardinal policy thrust with passion, dedication and every sense of duty.
He told them that reconstruction work at the long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel, Aba would commence next month (June) adding that it would be upgraded to a five-star hotel.
The six Mayors of Abia South Senatorial Districts namely Hon. Chief Uche Wogu (Aba South), Ide John Udeagbala (Aba North), Dr. Eric Achi Egwuibe (Obingwa), Hon. Nnosike Emeka Ihesiaba (Ugwunagbo), Dame Dr. Ngozi Nwagbara (Ukwa East) Hon. Newman Azu (Ukwa West) used the occasion to present their scorecards within six months in office.
Highlight of the Town Hall meeting was the reception of decampees from other political parties to the Labour Party (LP) by Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.
Presenting the decampees from PDP, APC, YPP and other parties in the state, the national vice chairman of Labour Party, Southeast zone, Chief Ceekay Igara commended them for joining the Labour Party and handed them the party’s flag before presenting them to the governor.
Speaking while receiving the decampees, Dr. Alex Otti assured them that the party would carry them along and treat them with fairness, equity and justice.
Prominent among the decampees were former member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike (PDP), Hon. Ahamefula Ikonne (YPP) and Hon. Christian Emejiaka (APC) and their supporters.
Thereafter, some of the projects executed by the Mayor of Aba South, Hon. Chief Uche Wogu including University Road, College Road and Green Avenue Road built by Dr. Alex Otti were commissioned.

Madam, can you tell us why you are here today?
My mission here today is to join His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) in the Town Hall meeting he has arranged to mark his one year in office. This Town Hall meeting is taking place in my constituency and my home local government area. So I have to be here to join my people to welcome and congratulate our performing governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for his monumental achievements in Aba and other parts of the state within one year in office.
Can you mention some of the things he has achieved so far?
Yes. I can go on and on to reel out all that Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has been doing in Abia State. Hence, I am the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs I have the record of everything that is happening in all the seventeen local government areas of the state. I cannot stand here to mention all of them. But frankly speaking, we have never had it so good since the creation of Abia State. For instance, the local government areas can now execute capital projects following the appointment of Mayors by Dr. Alex Otti. So, I am very much impressed because His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti is a man of class. I commend him for using Mayors and other government appointees who are highly educated and who know what they are doing. I appreciate him for using capacity instead of mediocrity. He is working with a budget. He knows what he is doing and you can see where he is going. You do not need to go too far. Just walk around you would see things for yourself. Go to Ehi Road, Aba. I saw in the social media recently some women who were running around and jubilating because of how clean and neat Ehi Road is now. Go to other markets in Aba and Umuahia, the story is the same. There is desilting of gutters there. In short, I would tell you that Dr. Alex Otti is God-send. I am happy that I am alive to witness his good works in the state and I associate myself one hundred percent with his administration.
What is your take on the movement of Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike from PDP to Labour Party?
I won’t even allow you to finish talking before I answer you. I am the leader of a group called Ebisike Ladies. Right from Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu’s administration, we have never seen a representative that is down-to-earth, so loyal, heartwarming and widely accepted like Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike. We have never seen a representative that reaches his constituents and talks to them like him. That is why he has numerous followers. Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike has the political clout to move the whole of Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency to the Labour Party (LP).
Dr. Alex Otti has liberated Abia State

Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) is not a billboard governor. His good works speak for him and it is visible to all and sundry. That is why I am happy with him. He does not try to popularize himself on radio and television or show the people projects he did not execute. Dr. Alex Otti is really working. I am even happy that the opposition are criticizing him because it would make him to perform more in order to put them to shame with his good works. By the end of his second year in office or next two years he would definitely transform Abia State to greater height. Even if the opposition like let them join two or three parties together to contest with him, they would not succeed because of Dr. Alex Otti’s remarkable achievements in the state. I am sorry for those who feel that Dr. Alex Otti is not sharing money. He is using the state resources to work for the people. The past administrations in the state shared money and we suffered for twenty four years. We cried and people like us called him to come and take over.
Finally, God gave it to him after several attempts. And just one year now look at all that he has done. He has liberated Abia State. When he came in they were saying that he is not a politician and doubted his ability to perform. I laughed at them because they did not know what they were saying. Dr. Alex Otti is a renowned economist and seasoned banker who left his top management job in the bank to come and liberate Abia State from bondage and restore hope to the people. Why wouldn’t he perform. As you can see today he has fulfilled his promises to us within his one year in office. Abia is the number one state in the nation where investors are rushing to come and invest. So I am happy to be part of this change. I am not interested whether I am giving appointment or not because the people he has put there are doing very well. Look at the construction of Mega Transportation Terminal at Osisioma, which he flagged off today. When completed it would sanitize, redefine and manage the transport system in Aba effectively. The regular gridlock at Asa Road and Milverton Avenue, Aba would become a thing of the past. With all that he has done within his one year in office, those who are warming up for 2027 election would ask themselves, “What are we going there to do”. “This man has done everything for us”. Dr. Alex Otti is rebuilding Abia State for the good of all and sundry. He has restored hope and I tell you by the end of his first tenure what you would see in Abia State would even make you not to print poster assuming you want to contest for governorship election with him because people would just boo at you and ask you, “What are you going to do for us that you did not do in the past twenty four years?”

I am from ward 6 in Osisioma. We are there for Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. He has our one hundred percent vote come 2027 election.
