SBMT Unveils School Handbook

The School of Business and Management Technology, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba has unveiled its latest School Handbook to both the staff and students.

The event took place at the ICT Auditorium on Friday, September 20, 2024 under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. S. O. Ihesiulo, a chief lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.

It commenced with an opening prayer by Dr. Paulinus Obinna, a senior lecturer in the Department of Public Administration while Ikonne Ugwueze O. Esq, lecturer 11 in the Department of Marketing compered the event with elan.

In his opening remarks, the chairman on the occasion and one-time Dean of SBMT, Mr. S. O. Ihesiulo expressed profound gratitude to the incumbent Dean, Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze for bringing them together again to celebrate another significant milestone in the School of Business and Management Technology within a very short time in office.

He recalled that the ebullient and indefatigable Dean hosted the maiden Academic Business Research Workshop On Project Writing for SBMT at the same venue on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 and lauded him for his unrelenting efforts aimed at placing the School of Business and Management Technology in the first position in Abia State Polytechnic, Aba and across the nation.

He said that the School Handbook would make a profound impact on the entire institution and urged him to sustain his giant strides in the school.

In his speech, Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze appreciated his team, colleagues and students for their dedication, love and support, which culminated in the realization of the School Handbook.

He expressed immense gratitude to their amiable and digital Rector, Engr. Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro for his numerous achievements in Abia State Polytechnic, Aba since his appointment.

He extolled him for initiating the project and mandating them (the Deans) to produce the School Handbook in their respective schools.

In all humility and modesty, he disclosed that the School of Business and Management Technology under his watch is the first and only school to meet the Rector’s directive so far.

He urged the staff and students to sustain their support for the Rector in his unwavering determination to transform the institution into a world-class centre of excellence in technological education.

Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze also lauded the education-loving Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for his giant strides in the education sector of the state, particularly his profound interventions in Abia State Polytechnic, Aba to restore its lost glory and continue to render quality technical education in the nation.

He said that the Handbook contains a lot of information about the history, activities and programmes of the School of Business and Management Technology both at the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels, departments/ departmental admission requirements, courses, contents, codes, credit hours, organizational structure among others.

Thereafter, the Handbook was unveiled by Dr. C. S. Mpamugo, a chief lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance.

He lauded Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze for producing the Handbook, which he said would go a long way in helping the students in their academic pursuits.

He commended the Dean for a job well done saying that he had brought a lot of innovations in the School of Business and Management Technology (SBMT) since his assumption of office.

In their separate speeches, Mr. S. O. Ihesiulo, Chukwu Maurice Kalu, a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Administration and Management, Dr. Paulinus Obinna and others praised Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze for his quintessential leadership stressing that he has done a lot in the School of Business and Management Technology within a short time in office.

Speaking, a cross-section of the students showered encomiums on Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze for his numerous achievements in the School of Business and Management Technology since he mounted the saddle saying that they have benefitted immensely.

According to Mark Francis Uzoma, a HND 1 student of Department of Accountancy/Course Rep), the Handbook is very important to them and would help them to know a lot of things they did not know before about the school such as the names of their lecturers, departments, how to calculate their CGPA, among others.

Similarly, Chinedu Ogbonna, a HND 11 student of the Department of Accountancy described the Handbook as awesome and praised their Dean, Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze for his giant strides in the School of Business and Management Technology adding that he has surpassed his predecessors.

On her part, Ginikanwa Onyeji of the Department of Banking and Finance who signed-out from the institution recently described Dr. Chinweoke Nwaeze as a primus inter pares saying that they have witnessed numerous achievements in the school since he assumed office. She described the Handbook as a must-have for all the students.

The event was a huge success and climaxed with a closing prayer by Dr. Paulinus Obinna.

The School of Business and Management Technology comprises six departments namely Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Public Administration, Office Technology and Management (OTM).
