Ugwumba Education Trust Fund Disburses Cash to Beneficiaries in Isiala Ngwa South

…For Bursary Award, WASSCE and JAMB Exams

In line with his avowed commitment to the education sector of Abia State and eradication of illiteracy in Isiala Ngwa South local government area, the Founder of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund and member representing the people of Isiala South State Constituency, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis popularly known as Ceaser has disbursed cash to over 60 indigenes of Isiala Ngwa South under the aegis of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund to enable them to register for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), to sit for JAMB as well as Bursary Award to those already in tertiary institutions.

The epoch-making event held at his Umuagu Omoba country home on Monday, February 5, 2024.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund, Eze Adindu, PhD expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis (aka Ceaser) for his uncommon gesture describing it as a laudable milestone in the overall educational development of Ngwa Land, Abia State and the nation.

He commended the painstaking efforts of the management team of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund comprising Chinonso Nweze, a lecturer at Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), Barr. Happiness Ahunanya (Ada Mbutu), Nnaemeka Nwokocha, Comrade Jude Nneji, Hon. Chidi Enogwe, Engr. Chidi Uwaoma (Oceanic) and Chinonso Nweze in making the event a reality.

He also lauded Odoemelam Obinna and Arch. Azubuike Nwankpa for their immense contributions to the success story of the event.

Eze Adindu recalled that after the successful launch of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund at Omoba Group Primary School on Saturday, October 28, 2023 and their inauguration as members of the management team the same day that he disclosed that the programme would run in three phases.

According to him, the first phase involves disbursement of cash to those who are already in tertiary institutions as well as those who would be sitting for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and JAMB.

While those who are already in tertiary institutions would receive Bursary Awards those sitting for WASSCE or JAMB would also be giving cash to register and sit for the examinations, he said.

Eze Adindu disclosed that the second phase would begin with the registration of pupils for the First School Leaving Certificate Examination adding that they would visit primary schools in Isiala Ngwa South local government area and distribute school bags, exercise books and sandals to indigent pupils.

Lastly, he harped on the need to revive debates and quiz competitions among schools in Isiala Ngwa South adding that it would encourage the pupils to take their studies very serious and awaken the spirit of competition in them as it was done in the past.

Eze Adindu described the management team as people of unimpeachable integrity and expressed satisfaction with the selection of the beneficiaries adding that it was based purely on merit.

He described the event as promised fulfilled adding that Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis had been helping so many people to register for WAEC, NECO and JAMB over the years without publicizing it.

According to Eze Adindu, a senior lecturer at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Federal University of Calabar, the gesture is a veritable avenue for the people of Isiala Ngwa South, especially those from poor homes to actualize their educational ambition.

He reiterated Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis’ unwavering determination of taking education to the next level in Isiala Ngwa South by making sure that every child has access to basic education whether his or her parents have money or not.

He congratulated the beneficiaries on their selection and urged them to make good use of the money by putting in more effort in their studies.

Speaking, the Secretary General of Ugwumba Campaign Council, Ugochukwu Samuel Njoku Esq expressed satisfaction with the programme stressing that Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis is poised to eradicate illiteracy in Isiala Ngwa South.

He described the gesture as the first of its kind in Isiala Ngwa South adding that it is good to give back to the society.

He expressed happiness that Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis has identified education as the best way of giving back to the society and prayed God to bless him more abundantly.

Contributing, the Eze-elect of Amavo Nkworgu autonomous community in Osisioma Ngwa local government area, Chief Darlington Chiemezielam Silas Uhuegbu commended Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis for the wonderful gesture, which he said would go a very long way in giving children from poor homes in Isiala Ngwa South the opportunity to go to school up to university level.

The renowned business mogul/oil and gas giant described Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis as a very simple, humble, forthright, respectful, wise, approachable, generous and indefatigable legislator par excellence adding that he is the type of representative they need not those that would be representing them from hotels or those they cannot see or approach.

He said that Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis is easy -going and feels at home with everyone unlike his colleagues who feel too big to relate with the people.

He described him as a man of his words and prayed God to grant him long life, good health and the wherewithal to sustain the Education Trust Fund.

In his speech, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis appreciated the chairman of Ugwumba Education Trust Fund, Eze Adindu and his wonderful team for a very spectacular outing as well as Ugwumba Campaign Council ably led by Engr. Chioma Uwaoma (Oceanic) and his deputy, Chinonso Nweze as well as others for their support and esteemed presence.

He described the event as a very special day in the history of Isiala Ngwa South and congratulated all the beneficiaries on their success.

Looking back to 2018 when Ugwumba Organization was formed and the enviable height it has attained today by dint of hard work and perseverance, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis attributed their success to God.

According to him, Ugwumba Organization is not about politics. It is about the people.

He said that the Education Trust Fund is aimed at eradicating illiteracy in Isiala Ngwa South by helping the people to receive basic education.

He told the people that if God blesses them, they should try their best no matter how little to help others.

He assured the people that the Education Trust Fund would be sustained even if he is no longer in office.

He told them that they are going to benefit a great deal from the little money given to them.

He advised them to study hard for their examinations adding that they would come out in flying colours.

He lauded the management team for their painstaking selection of the beneficiaries adding that they are eminently qualified to benefit from Ugwumba Education Trust Fund.

In their responses, some of the beneficiaries drawn from the four blocs of Isiala Ngwa South namely OV-OV, Amobi, Nvosi and Mbutu expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis for touching their lives positively through Ugwumba Education Trust Fund.

They prayed God to bless him stressing that not everybody can do what he has done for them.
