ACCORD NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, MGBUDEM, HONOURED WITH PRESTIGIOUS CHIEFTAINCY TITLE IN ABIA
The National Chairman of Accord, Barr. Mgbudem Maxwell O., has been conferred with a prestigious Chieftaincy Title in recognition of his unparalleled philanthropy and immense contributions to the betterment of humanity and national development.
The honour was bestowed on him by HRM Eze Okey Jacob Ananaba (Okahia I of Okahia Autonomous Community), Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, during the epoch-making celebration of the monarch’s 25th Coronation Anniversary and 71st Birthday, held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his palace.
The colourful ceremony attracted a galaxy of traditional rulers, community leaders and other distinguished personalities from far and near, who gathered to celebrate the revered monarch and witness the conferment.
While performing the traditional rites, HRM Eze Ananaba lauded Barr. Mgbudem for his uncommon magnanimity, selfless service and sustained contributions to the growth and development of society.
The popular Royal Father and former Chairman, Obingwa Council of Traditional Rulers urged him not to relent in his good works and prayed God to continue to bless, guide and protect him.
Responding, Barr. Mgbudem expressed profound gratitude to HRM Eze Ananaba and the entire Okahia Autonomous Community for the rare honour.
He noted that the Chieftaincy Title, “Aha Eji Aga Mba”, would further spur him to do more in supporting initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare of the people and the development of communities.
According to him, the recognition reaffirmed his belief that hard work and service to humanity are always rewarded in due time.
He thanked the celebrant, the screening and selection committee, as well as the President General of Okahia Autonomous Community, Chief Osondu Ogiriga, for their roles in the honour, while giving glory to God for the milestone in his life.
Barr. Mgbudem was accompanied to the event by his beautiful wife, Maureen, who was also honoured, alongside a large entourage of relatives, friends and political associates.
Speaking on his goodwill message to the celebrant, Barr. Mgbudem wished HRM Eze Ananaba long life, good health, divine wisdom and continued grace to rule his community effectively.
He described the monarch as a committed leader who has made enormous contributions to his community, Abia State and Nigeria at large, praying that God would bless him beyond imagination and make him a model for other communities to emulate.
On the state of democracy in Nigeria, the Accord National Chairman said the nation’s democratic system is evolving and undergoing trials, noting that such challenges are not peculiar to Nigeria alone.
He expressed optimism that the country would eventually attain democratic maturity with time.
He called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to nation-building, stressing that the country belongs to all and must be collectively nurtured for peaceful coexistence and sustainable progress.
“Our party’s slogan is Oneness and Progress. Without oneness, there can be no progress,” he said, urging citizens to work together as one people and one nation for the good of all.
