Umunne-Ato Mbutu Presents Eze-elect to Mayor Isiala Ngwa South with Pomp

It was jubilation galore as the people of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa South local government area of Abia State presented their Eze-elect, Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye to the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Chief Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, PhD on Friday, October 18, 2024.

The epoch-making occasion took place at the Isiala Ngwa South local government headquarters, Omoba.

A galaxy of notable personalities, heads of department, Isiala Ngwa LGA including chiefs, elders, men, women and youths of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community graced the memorable occasion.

Different cultural groups were not left out. They added colour to the occasion as they entertained the people with their scintillating renditions.

The occasion commenced at 2.30pm with an opening prayer by Nwaobilor Onwudinulo Ufomba as soon as the Mayor arrived in company of his beautiful wife, Pharmacist Melody Promise Nwambuisi Elele, the Deputy Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South, Hon. Eberechukwu Ahuruonye, Hon. Chief Uzoma Onwuasoanya, the councillor representing Ward 1 Amaise Ahaba and other dignitaries.

In his address after presentation of kola nut, the President General of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community, Hon. Munachim Anthony Echeonwu said that it was the unanimous decision of the people to present Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye as their Eze-elect (Nwanne Di Na Obi 11) to the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA having duly fulfilled all the requirements for ‘Ezeship’ as enshrined in their Constitution.

He appreciated the Isiopara Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community and the entire people of Umunne-Ato Mbutu for their tireless efforts and peaceful selection of Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye as their Eze-elect after the death of their traditional ruler, HRH Eze C. N. Akoma so many years ago adding that he is eminently qualified to be their traditional ruler.

At the end of his address, Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye was duly presented to the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South, Chief Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, PhD for recognition and recommendation to the state government for approval and presentation of staff of office.

The episode drew resounding applause amid deafening canon shots.

In his remarks, Chief Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele congratulated Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye on his unanimous adoption as the Eze-elect of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community adding that the large crowd that accompanied him is an eloquent testimony that the people are solidly with him.

He wished the Eze-elect great success in his quest and enjoined him to carry everybody along for the peace and development of the community.

He prayed for God to imbue him with wisdom to pilot the affairs of the community well.

In his response, the Eze-elect, Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye thanked God for making everything possible as well as the people of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community for finding him worthy to be their traditional ruler.

He appreciated the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for his quality leadership and monumental achievements in the state and the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA for his warm reception.

He promised to lead the people with the fear of God and to pursue vigorously the development of the community including sinking of borehole, casava processing mill, assistance to widows and the less-privileged.

In his vote of thanks, Hon. Chief Uzoma Onwuasoanya, the councillor representing Ward 1 Amaise Ahaba expressed great satisfaction with the official presentation of Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye as Eze-elect of Umunne-Ato Mbutu Autonomous Community.

He expressed optimism that Chief Felix Nwoko Akagburuonye would enthrone peace and foster development in the community and wished all safe journey back to their various destinations.

The presentation ceremony climaxed with a closing prayer by Chief Okey Chinweogu.

The occasion attracted the presence of many people including Comrade Ochonma Chikaodi (NULGE Chairman, Isiala Ngwa South LGA), Mrs. Chidinma Erondu, Nicholas Nwaoha, Elder Sunday Azubuike, Chief Okechi Nwaogu, Elder Sunday Azubuike, Mrs. Roseline Azubuike, Mr. Nicholas Chidinma, Onyenkwere Samuel, Elder Chinwendu Enyioko among others.

At the end, all roads led to the Eze-elect’s country home for great merriment.
