ASMATA BOSS HAILS GOV. ALEX OTTI’S TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP AT THIRD ANNIVERSARY, DECLARES 2027 RE-ELECTION NON-NEGOTIABLE

The President-General of Abia State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Hon. Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo, has described the three years of Governor Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) as a defining era of purposeful leadership, transformational governance, and unwavering commitment to the total recovery of Abia State’s lost fortunes.

Chief Udeigbo also called on all well-meaning Abians to reciprocate the Governor’s sincerity of purpose and focused leadership style by renewing their mandate with him in 2027.

In a statement issued on Sunday, May 24, 2026, to commemorate the third anniversary of the administration, the ASMATA President-General stated that Governor Otti’s government represented God’s answer to the prayers of Abians for the reclamation of the state after over two decades of alleged pillaging, infrastructural decay, and misgovernance.

According to him, Governor Otti had, within the last three years, successfully pulled Abia State from the brink of collapse and repositioned it on the path of becoming once again the commercial and industrial powerhouse of the South-East region.

Chief Udeigbo paid glowing tribute to the Governor’s intentional and aggressive infrastructural renewal drive, including massive road reconstruction projects across Aba, Umuahia, and other parts of the state.

He further applauded the administration’s achievements in healthcare delivery, transportation, security enhancement, workers’ welfare, and improved public service delivery.

He particularly highlighted signature projects such as the newly constructed Umuahia Bus Terminal, the reconstruction and modernization of the Port Harcourt Road in Aba, as well as the upgrading and revitalization of healthcare facilities including the Obingwa and Arochukwu General Hospitals, among several other landmark interventions spread across the state.

The ASMATA leader expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for creating an enabling environment that has boosted economic activities and restored investor confidence, resulting in traders and members of the business community realizing their full potentials once again.

Chief Udeigbo stated that what Abians were celebrating was three years of purposeful and transformational leadership marked by focused governance and commitment to the aspirations and yearnings of the people.

He noted that traders and members of the business community remained particularly grateful for the opening up of the business environment through massive infrastructural renewal projects, especially in Aba and Umuahia, which had significantly improved commercial activities.

According to him, the remodeling and reconstruction of roads, especially the landmark Port Harcourt Road in Aba, had triggered remarkable economic growth and development across the state within the last three years.

He further stated that many businesses and industries that previously left Aba and other parts of the state due to poor road networks, insecurity, and an unconducive business climate had started returning as a result of the improved environment created by the present administration.

Chief Udeigbo also commended the remodeling and reconstruction of several markets across the state, alongside the construction of access roads, which he said had greatly enhanced ease of doing business for traders and entrepreneurs.

He observed that for over two decades, Aba and several parts of Abia State suffered monumental infrastructural neglect, insecurity, and economic decline that forced many residents and businesses to relocate elsewhere.

However, he maintained that Governor Otti had restored normalcy and renewed hope among the people through his transformational leadership style, bringing visible development and renewed confidence in governance.

Speaking on behalf of traders and the wider business community, the ASMATA President-General pledged their readiness to renew what he described as their “contract” with Governor Otti for another four years in office, insisting that the decision was non-negotiable and would be formally sealed in 2027.

Chief Udeigbo also renewed his call on traders, members of the business community, and all eligible Abians to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized that active participation in the electoral process remained the only sure path to sustaining the current wave of transformation across the state and preventing a return to what he described as the dark days of the past.

According to him, eligible voters must arm themselves with their PVCs and come out en masse to vote during the elections, stressing that failure to do so would be harmful to the collective future and aspirations of Abians.
