Good Morning Market Aba Gets New Chairman
Hon. Emeka Okoh (a.k.a Toti) has emerged as the new chairman of Good Morning Market, Aba. He succeeded Hon. Esinna Ogbonna popularly known as ‘Okwa ku Eke’ Friday last week.
His appointment is widely held by the traders as well deserved. They described him as a man of the people and expressed confidence that he would perform very well.
On his part, the unassuming, amiable, dynamic, indefatigable, forthright and visionary leader described his appointment as divine and a call to restore sanity in the market.
He commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), the Mayor of Aba North local government area, Ide John Udeagbala, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment and Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment for his appointment and promised not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him.
The renowned Enugu State-born cow-meat merchant said that he is abreast with the challenges facing the market having spent quite some time there since their relocation from Waterside Market Aba popularly known as ‘Ahia Udele’ following the accident that occured there some years ago and exudes confidence that with the collaboration of the government and total support of the traders he would tackle successfully the market’s problems of bad road, sanitation, security among others.
He appealed to the government to come to their rescue and put the roads in order so that vehicles conveying goods from the North and other parts of the nation to the market would not find it difficult to come inside or park outside the market to unload their goods.
On the area of sanitation, he promised to ensure that the market is kept clean always.
Furthermore, he said that he would ensure peace and security in the market as well as protect the interest of both the government and traders to the good of all.
He promised to carry everybody along and appealed to the traders to join hands with him and the entire executive to ensure that Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s good intentions for Abia markets is sustained in Good Morning Market, Aba.
Hon. Emeka Okoh used the opportunity to congratulate the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti on his one year in office.
He lauded Dr. Alex Otti’s remarkable achievements in the state within his one year in office, especially in the areas of road construction and rehabilitation, sanitation, security, health, education, trade and investment.
He gave him kudos for the award of the rehabilitation of the long abandoned Port Harcourt Road, Aba to number one road construction giant in Nigeria, Julius Berger describing it as an eloquent testimony that he means well for the people of Aba and the entire state.
He wished him well on his one year anniversary and prayed God to give him the strength, courage and wherewithal to do more for the state in the years ahead.
In his remarks, the immediate past chairman of Good Morning Market, Aba hailed the appointment of Hon. Emeka Okoh as a welcome development and expressed confidence that he would live up to expectation.
He saluted Dr. Alex Otti on his first one year in office saying that Abia State has witnessed tremendous developments under his administration and urged him not to relent in his good works in the state.
In their separate remarks, Joseph Chinaka and Moses Gabriel Chigozie described their new chairman, Hon. Emeka Okoh as eminently qualified to pilot the affairs of Good Morning Market, Aba to enviable height and pledged their total support to his leadership.
