Dr. Ugochukwu Okoro, the Medical Director of King’s Well Hospital, Aba, provided comprehensive free medical services to participants at the grand civic reception organized by Imo indigenes resident in Abia State in honour of Governor Alex Chioma Otti (OFR).
Speaking on the sidelines of the event held at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Dr. Okoro disclosed that King’s Well Hospital, located at 26 Brass Street, Aba, with its new facility at 6B Faulks Road, Aba, was entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating the medical team that ensured the health and safety of thousands of participants throughout the civic reception.
He explained that the hospital deployed a fully equipped emergency medical team to the venue to provide free consultations, medical examinations, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of ailments, including malaria, typhoid fever, hypertension and other common health conditions.
According to him, beyond routine medical consultations, the team was prepared to respond promptly to any emergency that might arise during the event.
He noted that hospital beds, intravenous drips, drip stands and other emergency medical equipment were brought to the venue to stabilize anyone who might suddenly collapse, faint or suffer any medical emergency.
Dr. Okoro further stated that laboratory services, including blood glucose testing, urinalysis and other basic diagnostic investigations, were also made available free of charge to participants to facilitate prompt diagnosis and treatment.
He added that the medical team was equally equipped to manage injuries sustained at the venue, explaining that wound dressing materials, bandages, suturing equipment and other emergency supplies were readily available to control bleeding, treat injuries and perform minor surgical procedures where necessary.
He stressed that the overriding objective of the medical outreach was to ensure that every participant received immediate medical attention whenever the need arose and that no avoidable medical emergency resulted in loss of life during the programme.
Speaking on the performance of Governor Alex Otti, Dr. Okoro, an indigene of Awo-Omama in Imo State, described the governor as a worthy in-law of the Imo people and expressed delight over the cordial relationship between both states.
He commended Governor Otti’s administration for what he described as remarkable infrastructural renewal across Abia State, particularly in Aba and Umuahia, noting that the quality of road infrastructure, improved security architecture and other developmental projects executed within the governor’s three years in office had transformed the state.
Dr. Okoro said the achievements of the governor had earned him the admiration and support of Imo indigenes residing in Abia State, adding that they attended the civic reception not only to honour him but also to reaffirm their confidence in his leadership.
Looking ahead to the 2027 governorship election, the medical director assured Governor Otti of the total support of Imo people resident in Abia State.
He expressed confidence that the impressive turnout witnessed at the reception would multiply significantly on election day, maintaining that the governor’s performance had already endeared him to the electorate.
He further asserted that Governor Otti’s record of achievements had positioned him strongly for another electoral victory, insisting that many residents believed his developmental strides spoke louder than political campaigns and would ultimately translate into overwhelming support at the polls.
