The Chairman of Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Aba, Comrade Emeka Okeke, has intensified grassroots mobilization in support of the re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a strategic move aimed at boosting voter participation, Okeke, in collaboration with Hon. Henry Onwuchekwa, Councillor representing Ward 8 in the Aba South Legislative Council, facilitated the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Aba on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
The initiative was designed to ease the process of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration for traders and other eligible residents within the market.
The exercise, which attracted a large turnout of enthusiastic traders, also featured a parallel drive encouraging registration into the Labour Party (LP), as part of broader efforts to consolidate grassroots support for Governor Otti ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking during the exercise, Okeke described the initiative as a crucial step toward ensuring that every eligible trader in the market is empowered to participate actively in the electoral process.
He noted that the PVC remains the most potent tool for political participation and change, urging those who were yet to register to seize the opportunity and avoid the usual stress associated with the process.
He further disclosed that the registration exercise would continue on Friday, April 10, 2026, to accommodate more participants and ensure maximum coverage within the market community.
The Ekeoha chairman expressed deep satisfaction with the impressive turnout recorded on the first day, describing it as a clear demonstration of the traders’ commitment to shaping the political future of Abia State.
Okeke also used the occasion to commend Governor Otti for what he described as his “phenomenal transformation” in different parts of the state, particularly Aba and Umuahia.
According to him, the governor’s performance has endeared him to the people, making his re-election bid widely acceptable across various segments of the state.
Declaring unflinching support for the governor, Okeke asserted that Otti has no credible rival in the forthcoming election, describing his anticipated victory as a fait accompli.
He stressed that the only pathway to actualizing this victory is through widespread voter registration and participation.
He urged all traders and the entire people of Abia State to work assiduously towards ensuring a landslide victory for the governor in 2027, emphasizing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the key to securing that mandate.
Okeke further described Governor Otti as a God-sent leader whose administration, he noted, has brought renewed hope and development to the state.
He expressed confidence that a second term would usher in even greater transformation and consolidate the gains already recorded.
The PVC registration drive at Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Aba is seen as part of a broader grassroots mobilization strategy expected to play a significant role in the 2027 general elections in Abia State.
