EMEKA OKEKE EMERGES ‘IGWE’ CMO CKC ABA
The chairman of Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Aba, Comrade Emeka Okeke (Mecon Global) has emerged the “Igwe 2026” of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO), CKC Parish, Aba after a keenly contested competition.
The event, held on Saturday, May 2 at the CKC field, formed part of activities to mark this year’s Fathers Day celebration in the Catholic Church themed “Civic Engagement of Christian Fathers as Agents of Change for Good Governance.”
It featured various sporting competitions such as sack race, tug of war, match past among others and drew a large gathering of faithful, community leaders, and dignitaries from far and near.
In an address, the General Secretary of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO), CKC Parish, Sabinus Chibuikem Dennis, challenged fathers to take active roles in shaping society.
He emphasized that national transformation begins with responsible fatherhood, noting that governance principles such as order, accountability, and provision must first be practiced at home.
He cautioned against political apathy, describing civic disengagement as a failure of responsibility rather than spirituality.
According to him, Christian fathers must move beyond prayers to active participation through voting, engaging leaders, and contributing to policy discussions.
Dennis further stressed that the future of the nation depends on the values fathers instill in their children, urging them to raise disciplined and responsible citizens.
He concluded by calling on fathers to unite, demand accountability, and serve both God and nation with commitment.
The highlight of the event was the Igweship contest, where Comrade Emeka Okeke (Prince of Peace) defeated Nze Vincent Duru (St. Gabriel) and Bro. Michael Nnaji (St. Augustine) by a wide margin.
In his response, Comrade Emeka Okeke, who was full of joy all through, expressed profound gratitude to God, the church, and his teeming supporters for his emergence, pledging continued service to both God and humanity.
He also appreciated immensely the presence and support of Hon. Ucheonye Stephen Akachukwu, the member representing Aba Central State Constituency who arrived early and stayed till the end of the event.
Comrade Emeka Okeke described fathers as heads of families and urged them to continue fulfilling their responsibilities by providing for their families both physically and spiritually.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akachukwu commended the organizers for a successful outing and encouraged attendees to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also expressed unwavering support for Governor Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), urging continued backing for his administration and re-election come 2027 to continue his good works in the state while reaffirming his commitment to facilitating NIN registration for the parishioners.
He congratulated Comrade Emeka Okeke on his emergence, describing him as a shining example of fatherhood and urging him to uphold the values that earned him the title, noting that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
The celebration featured cutting of cake and goodwill messages. It attracted the presence of notable personalities, reverend sisters, top government officials, captains of industry, market leaders including the Cathedral Administrator, Rev. Fr. Dr. Casmir Uzosike, Bro. Chimezie Odoemenam (Vice Chairman, Parish Council, CKC, Aba Diocese), Nneoma Lady Joy Ubah (LSM, JP), the President, CWO, CKC Parish, the chairman of Ngwa Road Market Traders Association (NGWAMATA), Ejim Munachiso, Obinna Nkeleme, Pastor Ezekiel Umeh, Mazi Iheanyi Christian, Prince Nnaemeka Okeke, Sir B.
